Praise Odes (Three Poems)

November 5, 2020

Praise bunting

and draped pennants
and pointed gold finials
capping imported miniature flags
sprouting from roadside mounds
or drooping from Crisco cans
and Miracle Whip jars
butted at the base of slabbed memorials
and any tricolor refuge
for that matter
and everything
else that scours
and absolves
Baseline Cemetery
Cheshire Township
Michigan America
the year of our Lord
fill in the shuddering blank

***

Praise holding

hard
against
thread the noose
string ‘em up
Gadsden rattler
don’t tread on me
bunker building
AK/AR stockpiling
liberty or fill in the blank barking
my way of life vanishing
Proud Boy second amendment militia
Boogaloo rabble
conceal and carry
life at the margin
tear it all down
old school
Johnny rebs

***

Praise survival

ists
bunkerheads
curating bugout bags
stringing crossbows
sharpening their bowies
laying in canned and dried goods
small game jerky jugged water headlamp batteries
bleach iodine salt tabs trauma shears
unguents and antifungals
those out in front of quakenados
those ready when the SHTF
those stoked
for theendoftheworldasweknowit
