New York Fashion Week

We kept our collection of Seventeen magazines
under our bed. On the weekends, we spread
them on our bedroom floor. Lying

on our stomach, feet crossed, in the air,
hair grazing over glossy pages, we snipped
away shoulder blades, thighs, and ribs.

We shifted them together, white skin,
pink lips, and blue eyes, into a mosaic.
We glued them on a poster board

that would hang on our bedroom
wall, the one above our mirror.
